Why Might Sport Be Important For Non-Sport Coaches to Consider? Some context-setting questions…

Posted by andreajlee Thursday, April 21st, 2011 · Comments (0)

What Is the Importance of Sport? In society, in communities, to individuals?

How might using sport as an analogy, context, or template for your personal goals be useful?

How might using sport as an analogy, context or template for coaching with your clients be useful?

What sport(s) are you most familiar with as a participant?  As a fan or observer? These will provide the foundation for metaphors and language we will begin to excavate here on this site!

Please share your answers in the comments. We’ll be talking more about each of these as we go along.

Welcome to Tour de Coach

The Tour de Coach website has 3 major goals and one overarching theme.  The 3 goals are to:

  1. Become better at a sport
  2. Become better at coaching
  3. Become better at your coaching business

Integrating these three things into a powerful whole is the overarching theme of what we’ll explore at this website. To support this learning, we urge you to play full out in all areas of your life, applying these principles mentally, emotionally and physically.  Now, this doesn’t always means trying really hard, as we’ll discover.  But we ask that you hold the theme of wholeness in the forefront as we present the major distinctions that cross over among the three areas.

We have a great deep well of wisdom to drink from in the world of sport, and our bodies – your body in particular, has such richness and wisdom in it.

We know that your willingness to explore these intersections will shine a useful, significant light on wholeness and completeness (or incompleteness) for you and, of course, your clients.

This is the full potential of coaching. Are you ready?
